Press Release Summary = A new study reveals that one in two managers consider themselves to be a control freak!
Press Release Body = Melbourne, Australia June 27, 2006 - A study of over 400 managers from around the world reveals that one in two bosses consider themselves to be a control freak.
Conducted by employee management expert, Anna Johnson - author of the controversial employee management book, How To Manage People (Even If You're A Control Freak!) - the study found that 51% of managers consider themselves to be a control freak, while 49% do not.
The study follows hot on the heels of Ms Johnson's previous survey of over 400 employees, which found that:
-- 61% of employees consider their boss to be a control freak. -- 68% of employees with a female boss consider her to be a control freak. -- 57% of employees with a male boss consider him to be a control freak.
Ms Johnson's study of managers involved them responding to a survey, "Are You A Control Freak?" located at http://www.howtomanagepeople.com/you/
"I was stunned when I saw the results," said Ms Johnson. "I always thought a lot of managers were control freaks - hence my book - but I didn't realise that half of all managers consider themselves to be control freaks. or that the vast majority of employees consider their boss to be a control freak!"
According to Ms Johnson, a "control freak" is someone with a fundamental need to control what he or she does and what happens to him or her.
Ms Johnson was particularly surprised that so many women managers were regarded as control freaks.
"You wonder whether it's because women managers really are more controlling. or because women in management positions are perceived to be more controlling." she said.
Ms Johnson's book How To Manage People (Even If You're A Control Freak!) specifically aims to help managers - especially those who are control freaks - become more effective at managing people.
"Managing people effectively is often the key to having a successful and rewarding career or business. yet many people don't know how to do it," explained Ms Johnson. "My book gives executives, professionals and business owners practical advice about becoming better managers."
